Bonza is the broken crossword in Netflix Puzzled: a crossword cut into pieces of two or three letters, scattered on the board, with a theme at the top as the only clue. Drag the pieces together so that they join into words that fit the theme, across and down, until every piece is connected.

  • A theme as the clue
  • Drag pieces together
  • Words cross

The rules

  1. APPLEEAR

Pieces of a crossword, and a theme

The board shows the pieces of one crossword, pulled apart: APP, LE and EAR here. The theme at the top, Fruit, is the clue to every word.

  2. APPLEEAR✓ Right

Join pieces into a theme word

Drag a piece next to another so their letters read as a word. APP and LE make APPLE across.

  3. APPLEEAR

    Words cross, every piece connects

Words cross as in a crossword, sharing a letter. EAR hangs from the second P of APPLE and reads PEAR down. The puzzle is solved when every piece is connected.

From scattered pieces to the words

A board of our own, three pieces, two words:

  1. APPLEEAR

The theme is Fruit; three pieces lie apart

  2. APPLEEAR

APP and LE join: APPLE across

  3. APPLEEAR

EAR under the P: PEAR down. Every piece joined, solved

Where to play, and the controls

  1. Open Netflix Puzzled on iOS or Android, or in a browser at netflix.com/tudum/puzzled. No account is needed.
  2. Read the theme at the top, then drag and drop the pieces. Correctly joined pieces snap together, across or down.
  3. The lightbulb gives a hint (hints can be turned off in the settings). The app's Learn A New Game section has a Bonza tutorial.

Bonza tips: join the pieces faster

  • Think of the theme's words first

Before moving anything, list the words the theme suggests. The pieces then look like parts of words you already expect.

  • Pair beginnings with endings

A piece that ends a word (a 3-letter ending like ING or EAR) and a piece that starts one tell you the word's direction. Place them as a pair.

  • Rare letters first

A piece with a rare letter, Q, X, Z or K, fits few words. Solve that word first and the rest of the board follows from its crossings.

  • Every word crosses another

Two words in a Bonza always share a letter where they cross. If a word has nowhere to cross, it is not placed yet.

  • Let the snap tell you

Pieces only snap when they are right. If two pieces refuse to join, they are not neighbours, however good the word looks.

Questions

What is Bonza on Netflix?

A word puzzle in Netflix Puzzled that mixes a crossword, a word search and trivia: the pieces of a crossword are scattered and you drag them back together into words that fit the puzzle's theme.

What are the clues in Bonza?

The theme at the top. There are no clues per word; the theme is the clue for all of them.

How do you know a Bonza piece is in the right place?

Pieces snap together when they are correctly placed, across or down. Pieces that do not snap do not belong together.

Does Bonza have hints?

Yes. The lightbulb gives a hint, and hints can be switched off in the settings for a purer solve.

When is there a new Bonza puzzle?

A new daily Bonza arrives at midnight, your local time; past days stay in the archive, and there are themed collections in the app.

Bonza is a game in Netflix Puzzled, the puzzle app of Netflix. AWA GAMES is an independent site and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Netflix. The boards on this page are our own.
