How to Play Sudoku on Netflix Puzzled: Rules, Notes and Tips
Sudoku in Netflix Puzzled is the classic 9 by 9 grid: fill every empty cell so that each row, each column and each 3 by 3 box holds the digits 1 to 9 once. The app marks a wrong digit, highlights a digit wherever it stands, and keeps your notes, so it is as much about method as about numbers. The rules
The givens stay
The grid starts with some digits given, in ink. They never move; the empty cells are yours to fill.
Once per row, column and box
Each digit 1 to 9 appears once in every row, once in every column and once in every 3 by 3 box. Tap a digit in the app and every copy of it lights up, showing where it cannot go.

Enter a digit when it is forced
A digit that is the only one its row, column and box allow goes in. Here the top-left box needs a 1, and only one of its cells can take it.

A wrong digit shows red
A digit that breaks the rule turns red in the app. Undo it with the circular arrow at the bottom left.
Notes hold the candidates
When a cell could take two or three digits, pencil them in with the Notes tool. As other cells fill, the notes shrink to one, and that one goes in.
Full, with no repeats
The puzzle is solved when every cell holds a digit and no row, column or box repeats one. There is only one way to do it.

- Open Netflix Puzzled on iOS or Android, or in a browser at netflix.com/tudum/puzzled. No account is needed.
- Tap a cell, then a digit. Tap a digit on the board to highlight every copy of it. The pencil turns on Notes; the circular arrow undoes.
- A wrong digit turns red. The lightbulb gives a hint when you are stuck.
Sudoku tips: the method that needs no guessing
One digit at a time, with the highlight
Take one digit, say the 5s, and tap it: with every 5 lit, each box that has none shows the few cells where it can go. Then the 6s, and so on.
Finish the fullest rows and boxes
A row with seven digits in it has two cells and two digits left. Check the columns and boxes of those two cells; usually one of them decides.
A box can rule a row
If a digit's only places in a box lie in one row, that digit is out of that row in the neighbouring boxes. Note it down and the boxes beside it open.
Pencil the candidates
Notes are not a crutch; they are the method. Pencil two or three candidates when a cell is not forced, and wipe them as cells fill.
Find the naked pairs
Two cells in one row, column or box that share the same two candidates take those two digits between them: every other cell of the unit loses both.
Do not guess
Guessing in a 9 by 9 costs more than it saves: one wrong digit spreads. If nothing is forced, look again for a pair or a box ruling a row.
