LinkedIn Zip invite
What is a Zip invite on LinkedIn?
A Zip invite on LinkedIn is a challenge from a connection to play today's Zip, delivered as the notification "You've got an invite", usually right after they solved it. That is all it means: no separate game, no paid feature, and nothing required of you. It opens the same free puzzle every player gets, so you can compare times, and it lasts until midnight Pacific Time, when a new Zip arrives.
- Free
- Today's puzzle only
- Nothing happens if you ignore it
What the Zip messages mean
The words LinkedIn uses vary. Each of these is the same daily challenge.
"You've got an invite"
Whether it reads "You've got an invite" or just "you got an invite", a connection sent you today's Zip as a challenge, usually after solving it. Open it to play the same puzzle.
"You've been invited to play Zip"
The same invite in other words: someone you are connected with wants you to play today's board.
"[Name] finished Zip"
A connection solved today's Zip. Their time is on the board, and the invite asks you to beat it.
"Teammates have a Zip invite waiting for you"
People from your workplace on LinkedIn played today's Zip and are inviting you to join them.
Do people invite you to play Zip on LinkedIn?
Yes. A Zip invite comes from a connection who played today's Zip and shared it from the result screen. Teammates can send one too, which LinkedIn reports as a Zip invite waiting for you. Nothing happens if you do not play.
How an invite works
A connection solves it
They finish today's Zip, and LinkedIn shows their time.
They send it to you
From the result screen, they share the puzzle with you as a challenge.
You open the same Zip
The invite opens today's puzzle, the one every player gets. Play it as usual.
You compare times
When you finish, you see who was faster, and you can pass it on yourself.
The game itself
One of LinkedIn's free daily puzzles: draw one path through every cell of a small grid, visiting the numbers in order, without crossing a wall. Everyone gets the same board each day: what Zip is on LinkedIn, and how to play it.
Is it safe?
An invite is LinkedIn's own feature. If a message looks odd, check that it comes from someone you know and that it opens linkedin.com/games. A Zip invite never asks for a payment or a password.
When it runs out
The invitation is for one day's puzzle. At midnight Pacific Time that puzzle stops being playable and a new Zip replaces it (when do LinkedIn games reset).
"Cracked the Zip, your move"
The same Zip challenge has a second form, the message a connection sends after solving: what cracked Zip means on LinkedIn. Other games have invites too: Wend invite, Queens invite and Patches invite.
