Animal Sudoku
A picture sudoku online, free: animals in place of numbers, and every row, column and box needs each of them once. Easy is a 4x4 sudoku you can read at a glance, medium and hard are a 9x9 of nine animals, and each press of a level brings a new board, with notes and a hint for the moment you are stuck.
How to solve animal sudoku
Who is missing here
Pick a square and name the animals around it: the lion in its row, the frog in its column, the pig in its box. When only one animal is not around, that one moves in.
Where can the cat go
Follow one animal, the cat for example, through a single box. Cross out every square where a cat already sees it along a row or column. One square left means the cat lives there.
Lost? The Hint button picks the next square to fill and tells you which animal goes there, and why.
The animals
Twenty-four animals, drawn for this game: pets and farm animals, a lion and a giraffe, a panda and a koala, and a few from the sea. The board never mixes two that look alike when small, like the cat and the fox, or the panda and the koala, and each animal keeps its own outline as well as its colour.

What is animal sudoku?
A sudoku where every number is an animal. Each row, column and box has every animal once: four on the 4 × 4 with its 2 × 2 boxes, nine on the 9 × 9 with its 3 × 3 boxes.
Do I need to know sudoku to play?
No. The only rule is that no animal repeats in a row, a column or a box, and the 4 × 4 teaches it in a minute. Medium and hard follow the same rule on a full 9 × 9, exactly like a number sudoku.
What is a 4x4 sudoku?
A sudoku where every number is an animal. Each row, column and box has every animal once: four on the 4 × 4 with its 2 × 2 boxes, nine on the 9 × 9 with its 3 × 3 boxes.
Can a puzzle have two answers?
No. The board is made the moment you choose a level, and the game keeps it only if the animals fit in exactly one way.
What if I get stuck?
Press Hint. It lights the next square and explains which animal goes there. If one of your animals is in the wrong square, it shows you that first.
Can children play it?
Yes. Small children can play the 4 × 4 before they know their numbers, since a lion is a lion; the big buttons under the board are made for a finger.
