Zodiac Sudoku

A zodiac puzzle game online, free: a picture sudoku with the twelve zodiac signs in place of numbers, and every row, column and box needs each of them once. Easy is a 4x4 sudoku of four signs, medium and hard a 9x9 sky of nine, and each press of a level draws a new board, with notes and a hint when the stars will not line up.

Every row, column and box needs each sign once. Pick an empty cell, then a sign.

How to play zodiac sudoku

  1. Tap an empty square. Its row, column and box light up.
  2. Read the signs already there. The sign none of them has goes in your square.
  3. Pick it from the signs below the board. A wrong sign turns the square red.
  4. Fill the sky: every row, column and box with each sign once.

Easy, medium and hard

  • Easy4 × 4 with four signs in four colours and 6 in place: the whole sky in one look
  • Medium9 × 9 with nine of the twelve signs and about 38 in place: a classic sudoku from Aries to Pisces
  • Hard9 × 9 with about 31 in place: a harder sky, never a guess

On a keyboard, the arrows move, 1 to 9 place the signs in their order below the board, Backspace clears and N switches notes.

How to solve zodiac sudoku

The sign still missing

For one empty square, rule out Leo, Scorpio and every other sign its row, column and box already hold. If one sign is left, it goes in.

Where can Aries go

Take one sign, Aries, and one box. A square is out if its row or column already has Aries. When a single square is left, Aries goes there.

The twelve signs of the Western zodiac, drawn for this game as their figures, each with the dates it covers (in some years a sign starts or ends a day earlier or later). A 4 × 4 takes four of them in four different colours, a 9 × 9 takes nine.

Is it a horoscope?

No. It is a puzzle with the zodiac's twelve figures in place of numbers: it reads no stars and tells no fortunes. The dates under each sign are the ones most horoscopes give.

What are the dates of the zodiac signs?

Aries March 21 to April 19, Taurus April 20 to May 20, Gemini May 21 to June 20, Cancer June 21 to July 22, Leo July 23 to August 22, Virgo August 23 to September 22, Libra September 23 to October 22, Scorpio October 23 to November 21, Sagittarius November 22 to December 21, Capricorn December 22 to January 19, Aquarius January 20 to February 18 and Pisces February 19 to March 20. In some years a sign starts or ends a day earlier or later.

What is zodiac sudoku?

A sudoku with the zodiac signs in place of numbers. Each row, column and box holds every sign once: four signs on the 4 × 4, nine of the twelve on the 9 × 9.

Is zodiac sudoku a full sudoku?

Yes. The signs are only symbols, so Taurus does the job of a 2 and the logic is unchanged. Medium and hard are full 9 × 9 sudokus.

Why do Gemini and Virgo never meet?

Gemini and Virgo are both drawn as people and look alike when small. The game never puts the two in the same puzzle, so every sign on the board is easy to tell apart.

Can the signs fit two ways?

No. Each board is made when you press a level and kept only if the signs fit in a single way.

What if I get stuck?

Press Hint. It lights the next square and names the sign for it, after pointing out any sign in the wrong place.

Are there more picture sudokus?
