Mushroom Sudoku
A mushroom puzzle game online, free: a picture sudoku with mushrooms in place of numbers, and every row, column and box needs each of them once. Easy is a 4x4 sudoku of four mushrooms, medium and hard a 9x9 forest floor, and each press of a level brings a new board, with notes and a hint when you lose the path.
How to solve mushroom sudoku
One mushroom left
For one empty square, set aside each mushroom its row, column and box already hold. If only the chanterelle remains, the chanterelle goes in.
Where the fly agaric grows
Pick one mushroom, the red fly agaric, and one box. A square is out if a fly agaric already stands in its row or column. The only square left is its place.

The mushrooms
Twenty-four mushrooms, drawn for this game, named after the kind they show or, where a drawing is no one kind, after its shape: caps on stems, shelves, cups, corals and puffballs. Many share a cap-on-a-stem outline, so those never meet on one board. The drawings are for the game, not a guide to which mushrooms are safe to eat: never eat a wild mushroom you know from a picture.

Questions
Can I use it to tell which mushrooms are edible?
No. The drawings are for the puzzle, and a picture is never enough to tell a safe mushroom from a poisonous one: the fly agaric here is poisonous. Never eat a wild mushroom unless an expert has checked it in hand.
What is mushroom sudoku?
A sudoku with mushrooms where the numbers go. No mushroom repeats in a row, a column or a box: four kinds on the 4 × 4, nine on the 9 × 9.
Is it a normal sudoku underneath?
Yes. Only the symbols are mushrooms; the porcini is as good as a 4. Medium and hard are full 9 × 9 sudokus.
Why do the field mushroom and the parasol never meet?
Both are a cap on a stem, and so are the porcini and the twin caps; at the size of a square they are hard to tell apart. The game keeps them on separate boards, so every mushroom you see has a shape of its own.
Can a mushroom sudoku have two answers?
No. Each board is made when you press its level and kept only if the mushrooms fit in one way.
What if I get stuck?
Press Hint. It lights the next square and names the mushroom for it, after showing any mushroom you put in the wrong place.
