How to solve tools sudoku
The last tool in the box
For one empty square, rule out the drill, the pliers and every tool its row, column and box already hold. If one tool is left, it goes in.
A hook for the hammer
Take one tool, the hammer, and one row. A square is out if its column or box already has a hammer. The one square left gets the hammer.

The tools
Twenty-four tools from the workshop and the garden, drawn for this game: a hammer, a drill and a saw, pliers, a wrench and a spirit level, a paint roller and a brush, a rake, a shovel and a wheelbarrow. The long thin ones, the screwdriver and the hex key, or the putty knife, the trowel and the shovel, never share a board.

Questions
What is tools sudoku?
A sudoku with hand tools in place of numbers. Each row, column and box holds every tool once: four on the 4 × 4, nine on the 9 × 9.
Is tools sudoku a normal sudoku?
Yes. The tools only stand for digits: the tape measure counts like a 6, and the rule is unchanged. Medium and hard are full 9 × 9 sudokus.
Why are the screwdriver and the hex key never together?
At the size of a square, a long thin tool is just a line: the screwdriver and the hex key, or the putty knife, the trowel and the shovel. The game keeps them on separate boards, so every tool is easy to tell apart.
Can a tools sudoku have two answers?
No. Each board is made when you press a level and kept only if the tools fit one way.
What if I get stuck?
Press Hint. It lights the next square, names the tool and says why, pointing first to any tool in the wrong square.
