Valentine Sudoku

A Valentine's Day puzzle game online, free: a picture sudoku with roses, love letters and lovebirds in place of numbers, and every row, column and box needs each of them once. Easy is a 4x4 sudoku of four love tokens, medium and hard a 9x9 of nine, and every press of a level brings a new board, with notes and a hint when your heart is not in it.

How to play valentine sudoku

  1. Start with any empty square: its row, column and box are highlighted.
  2. See which pictures are already there. The one missing from all three is yours.
  3. Pick it below the board. A wrong picture turns the square red.
  4. Fill the board: each row, column and box with every picture once.

Easy, medium and hard

  • Easy4 × 4 with four pictures in four colours and 6 in place: the whole board in one look
  • Medium9 × 9 with nine of the twelve pictures and about 38 in place: a classic sudoku from rose to teddy bear
  • Hard9 × 9 with about 31 in place: a harder heart, never a guess

On a computer, arrows move between squares, 1 to 9 place the pictures in the order below the board, Backspace clears and N switches notes.

How to solve valentine sudoku

The last token left

For one empty square, rule out the love letter, the candle and every picture its row, column and box already hold. If one remains, it goes in.

Where the teddy bear sits

Take one picture, the teddy bear, and one box. A square is out if its row or column already has the bear. The only square left is his.

Heart stuck? Hint shows the next square and the picture it needs.

The Valentine's Day pictures

Questions

What is valentine sudoku?

A Valentine's Day sudoku with love tokens in place of numbers. Each row, column and box holds every picture once: four on the 4 × 4, nine of the twelve on the 9 × 9.

Does it work like sudoku?

Exactly like it. Cupid's arrow counts like a 4, and the rule is the same. Medium and hard are full 9 × 9 sudokus.

Why do the ring and the diamond never meet?

At the size of a square, a ring with its stone looks like the diamond on its own, and a single rose looks like the bouquet. The game keeps each pair on separate boards, so every picture is easy to tell apart.

Can it have two right answers?

No. Each board is made when you press a level and kept only if the pictures fit one way.

What if I get stuck?

Press Hint. It lights the square to fill next and tells you which picture belongs there; a picture in the wrong place is shown first.
